"Kayak Kevin" Whitley
Kevin is one of the pioneers in the sport of kayak fishing. Kevin has been in the game since a “fishing kayak” meant just a few flush mount rod holders and a customized milk crate for carrying tackle. He is one of the most decorated anglers in his home state of Virginia.
He was the first kayak fisherman to reach both Expert and Master saltwater angler status with trophy fish awards in many different species throughout the Chesapeake Bay. In addition to his many fishing accolades Kevin has also produced a library of Kayak fishing videos. His video series “Kayak Fishing the Chesapeake Bay 1, 2 & 3” were far ahead of their time and continue to be valuable resources for kayak fisherman to this day.
Kevin has also done a number of long distance kayak fishing tours. 500 miles from the Florida/Georgia border to VA, 200 miles from Oregon Inlet NC to Ocean City MD, 600 miles circumnavigating the entire Chesapeake and an 1800 mile tour from Pensacola Florida to Norfolk VA are just a few of his trips. It’s safe to say there aren’t many if any anglers who have put the miles on a kayak that Kevin has over the years.
After years of spending countless hours chasing giant fish in the saltwater, Kevin has found new passion in the simple chaos that is whitewater kayaking and Smallmouth Bass fishing. Kevin will be a regular contributor of videos focusing on fishing as well as his new love for “downhill water” in the whitewater world.
