On January 25, 2023, angler Ed Green of Pennsylvania hooked and landed a massive walleye through the ice in upstate New York. Green was fishing Chaumont Bay on Lake Ontario when the 16.3 pound fish struck his Rapala Jigging Rap. After a 15-minute battle the fish was landed, photographed, and released. Ed Green and his wife were fishing with Louis Pagnotti of Chaumont Masters, a guiding and lodging service in the area. Like many ice fishermen these days, they were utilizing Garmin Live Scope to target and catch walleye and perch in the bay. This fish was 31.25 inches in length, 20 inches in girth, and just under 2 pounds from the current New York state record!
